Zardari-Obama

President of United States Barack Obama and Pakistan’s counterpart Asif Ali Zardari, both of them didn’t comment during today's photo opportunity in the Oval Office.
The White House Spokesman ‘Robert Gibbs’ said that these two leaders planned to discuss the aspects of the United States - Pakistan partnership, including their mutual commitment to economical reformation, support for democracy, good governance and joint efforts to combat terrorism.
Officials set up this meeting when Zardari has decided to visit Washington for today's memorial service, in honor of ‘Richard Holbrooke’ {the Afghanistan-Pakistan envoy} before his death last month.
The AFP wire service reports:
The meeting came after the Vice President ‘Joe Biden’ paid visit to Pakistan, which has really been a key, but complicated partner in the US-led campaign against Islamic extremism.
The Vice President Joe Biden, aiming at Rampant Anti-Americanism in the Pakistan, said that the United States was not the enemy of Islam as he pledged continued support for the country.
Obama, has had a visit to India {Pakistan’s historic rival} last year, invited Zardari and he has promised him to visit his country Pakistan in 2011.
The United States has launched a $7.5 billion aid plan for Pakistan, in 2009. It included strengthening democratic institutions to reduce the appeal of Islamic militants. But the Obama administration has also kept up support for their military which is a major power center in Pak.
The Afghanistan-Pakistan envoy, Richard Holbrooke was credited in Pakistan with drawing great international attention to the humanitarian disaster caused by those massive floods, last year in 2010.
